Women in Business Event featuring Linda Scott

October 24, 20252 min read

Our recent Women in Business event at The Sporting Club Lounge was a strong start to the day and a clear reminder of the power of focused networking.

Members and guests joined us in Edinburgh for a morning built around connection, insight and practical experience. From the welcome pastries and coffee through to the final conversations, the room carried energy and intent. Around the room introductions set the tone early. Everyone had the opportunity to share who they are and what they do, which created immediate common ground and opened the door to meaningful discussion.

We were delighted to welcome Linda Scott, CEO and Founder of Connexus Ltd, as our guest speaker.

Linda delivered an honest and compelling account of her journey. Leaving school at 16 with a single qualification and a passion for horses, she built a career that supported her ambition to compete nationally across the UK and Ireland. For more than two decades she balanced entrepreneurship with equestrian sport, developing the discipline, resilience and teamwork that now define her leadership style.

She spoke openly about translating a sporting mindset into business. The importance of consistency. Backing your judgement. Surrounding yourself with the right people. Building teams that trust each other and execute well under pressure.

Linda also reflected on her senior leadership roles, including Director of Business Development at Zühlke, Chief Marketing Officer at CodeClan and CEO of West Lothian Chamber of Commerce. Today, through Connexus and her role as a Director at Scottish Chambers, she continues to champion collaboration and growth across Scotland’s business community.

The Q and A session that followed was engaged and practical. Questions focused on scaling, culture, visibility and leadership at board level. The discussion was thoughtful and grounded in real business challenges, which kept the room fully involved.

What stood out most was the quality of conversation afterwards. Small groups formed naturally. Follow up meetings were arranged. Connections were strengthened. That is exactly what these events are designed to achieve.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the atmosphere. Your engagement makes these mornings what they are.

We are already planning more Women in Business events and look forward to building on the momentum from this one.
