The Sporting Club Scotland welcomed members and guests for an inspiring evening with Judy Murray, and it delivered on every level.

From the moment she took the stage, the room was engaged. Judy shared honest insights on leadership, high performance, and the early challenges of building a clear pathway for Scottish tennis. She spoke openly about learning by doing, developing her own coaching methods, and working alongside specialists to raise standards across the game.

A key theme throughout the evening was consistency. Hard work. Long term thinking. Judy reflected on how those principles helped both Andy and Jamie reach world number one at the same time, a rare achievement in any sport. She also explained the decision behind Jamie’s move into doubles and highlighted the coaches who played a role in shaping both careers.

The conversation balanced elite performance with real life lessons. Leadership under pressure. Backing your own judgement. Building structures that outlast individuals. It resonated strongly with a room full of business leaders and entrepreneurs.

There was plenty of fun too. Our traditional Heads and Tails game came with a Murray twist, including the question about which brother owned a hamster called Whisky. The competitive spirit in the room was clear.

Beyond the conversation, the evening had real impact.

Together, members and guests helped raise close to £3000 for Children 1st, Judy’s chosen charity. Children 1st does important work across Scotland, protecting children from harm, keeping them safe, and supporting recovery from trauma and abuse. Their national support line and work in homes, schools, and communities provide emotional, practical, and financial help to children and families who need it most.

A special thank you goes to our event sponsor, Freedom Boat Club. They generously provided two luxury powerboat experiences for six people on Loch Lomond with Judy Murray. The auction created strong interest on the night and played a significant role in raising funds for Children 1st.

It was a fantastic evening. Strong engagement. Great energy. Real stories from elite sport that translate directly into business and leadership.

This is what The Sporting Club Scotland is about. Bringing good people together, creating meaningful conversations, and making a positive impact beyond the room.
